As an Operational Assistant in the Arrest Processing Section (APS) Command Centre, you will be responsible for reviewing, completing and correcting arrest packages which will be provided to Alberta Justice. Primary duties include:
  • Build Crown and Justice of the Peace disclosure packages according to procedure and professional standards.
  • Assemble and process bail packages at APS for the purposes of helping our external partners with performing bail hearings.
  • Liaise with the Crown and Hearing Office for matters approaching 24 hours to ensure files are sent on time and at-risk packages are expedited.
  • Ensure the accused release documents are accurate and completed.
  • Complete warrant tracking dispositions and other documentation for arrestee transport.
  • Manage and file all court, disclosure, and warrant documents. Mail Livelink documents to RMS.
  • Help with related administrative duties as required or directed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency (i.e. G.E.D.) and 3 years of experience in a policing environment and/or criminal court.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Peace Officer appointment or hold a valid appointment.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience with the following systems are assets: Sentry (Niche), Enterprise Connect.
  • Excellent communication skills, multi-tasking abilities and ability to focus on results. Provide excellent customer service and ability to maintain confidentiality. Relationship and team building skills to help in employee engagement, efficiency, and thoroughness with the ability to manage stress levels effectively.
Working Conditions: Office environment in the Command Centre and walks through jail environment to reach the office. Exposure to disturbing materials when reviewing police reports, are occasionally exposed to aggression.
Pre-employment Requirements
  • An enhanced security clearance and pre-employment polygraph will be conducted.

Compensation: Pay Grade 7 $33.33 - 44.60 per hour
Days of Work:
Week 1: 2-day shifts, 2-night shifts, 5 days off
Week 2: 2-day shifts, 3-night shifts, 4 days off
Week 3: 3-day shifts, 2-night shifts, 5 days off


Hours of work: This position works an average of 40 hours per week
over a 4-week cycle, with 12-hour shifts being offered;
except for Sundays which will be 8-hour shifts.
This is a 24-hour, 7 day/week operation
