Full Description

DESCRIPTION

Join us in beautiful Prince Edward Island, Canada! Each year our unique glamping resort (Authentic Mongolian Yurts with private hot tubs) looks to hire at least 2 yoga teacher/guest services representatives to help us serve guests from all over Canada (and the world). While we are a year-round resort our busy season runs from June to the middle of October, and this is when we need people to join our team! We are a small, boutique family-run resort featuring 6 accommodation units (4 Mongolian yurts, 1 loft apartment and a cottage) a gorgeous yoga studio space in a large 30 foot Mongolian Yurt with cork floors and fully outfitted with props for yin and restorative classes, and our office yurt (which also holds a small gift shop). In the summer months we offer daily yoga classes and daily kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) tours. We are located on a biodiverse ocean lagoon perfect for exploring calm waters and the wildlife that live here.

We are looking for dynamic, experienced yoga teachers who are willing to do more than teach yoga (as we typically only offer one class per day). In addition to yoga, you will be guiding kayak or SUP tours (certification is provided), acting as a guest services rep assisting with administrative work, checking in and checking out guests, providing housekeeping, gardening, and maintenance/odd jobs around the resort.

Our compensation package includes:

1. Our staff are formal employees and must be eligible to work in Canada. We pride ourselves in paying one of the highest industry standards for hospitality work on PEI at $20/hour (Cdn).

2. We guarantee at least 30 hours of employment per week. Generally these are 3 ten hour days. We do this, so that people who are joining us from other places have lots of time to explore our island paradise in their off time. For busy periods, additional hours may be offered above the 30hr/week baseline and a willingness to accept more hours is an asset.

3. Our yoga teachers generally get to teach at least one class per day of yoga on the days they are scheduled to work

4. You’ll receive certification as a Paddle Canada level 1 paddler (guiding requirements) an internationally recognized certification. We pay for your certification (a $300 value).

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Must have a recognized yoga certification (preferably yoga alliance RYT-200 or higher) with preference given to experienced teachers

2. Must be willing to guide kayak tours (comfortable on and around the water) with preference given to applicants with kayaking experience. We will pay for Paddle Canada Level 1 certification

3. Must have basic first-aid certification (or willing to get this certification once here – we will pay for the certification and there are regular classes offered in Charlottetown, PEI)

4. Must be willing to work in a number of areas within the resort including a significant amount of time housekeeping/cleaning. The work involved is a mix of guest services, administration, housekeeping, gardening, guiding [mostly kayaking, but we do on a small fleet of standup paddleboard’s, and have the opportunity to develop that programming], and yoga teaching (both in studio and on the beach). Experience in any/all of these areas is an asset.

5. Must be available for work and eligible to work in PEI, Canada for June, July and August. We would prefer someone who could join us in May and work into the month of September or even October. We do have some flexibility on these dates and could consider shortening or lengthening this employment by several weeks on each end to accommodate the right applicant. We are happy to assist with arrivals/departures, but we aren’t able to arrange travel or logistics of working in Canada, thus preference is given to Canadian citizens or those with active work visas in Canada (please indicate that you are eligible to work in Canada in your cover letter).

6. Preference is also given to Canadians eligible for Canada Summer Jobs (young Canadians aged 30 or younger) as we often hire through this program. Please indicate if you are in this age group and a Canadian citizen.

6. We do not provide lodging but can often help our staff find accommodations close to the resort if you are not from PEI.

7. We do ask that our staff be vaccinated appropriately against Covid 19. We know this can be a contentious issue for many and appreciate the diverse perspectives on this challenging issue. Given how public facing we are and our inability to socially distance from our guests and each other, we have asked for this to protect our guests and our staff. Please indicate this in your cover letter.

Please apply with your resume and cover letter to the email below. Successful applicants will contacted for an interview.
