About Us

As Canada’s only provincial museum dedicated to the story of work and workers, the Museum of Industry offers the largest galleries of exhibits in Atlantic Canada. As we tell the stories of how Nova Scotia changed as a result of industrial work, we specialize in hands-on fun for families. In our exhibits, you can find everything from one of the oldest steam locomotives in the world, to a climb-on colorful Kid’s train. Visitor experiences also include special exhibits, programs, events and school trips.

About Our Opportunity

Over a 16-week work term the employee will assist the Curator of Collections with the creation of high-resolution digital scans of the Museum’s artifact photo collection and library research report collection. Hands-on training will be provided in artifact handling, the use of the Museum’s flatbed scanner and basic Excel spreadsheet work. The employee will also aid the Curator in the mounting and dismantling of a temporary exhibit(s), which will provide the Assistant with the experience of artifact handling and the placement of artifacts for display. Additionally, time permitting, they will also assist the Curator with daily tasks such as responding to offers and enquiries.
