Your Opportunity:

The Rehabilitation Advice Line (RAL) is a provincial service through Health Link that provides self management advice, education, resources and wayfinding to callers from across Alberta. The Rehabilitation Advice Line Therapy Assistant (TA) is responsible for the screening of callers wishing to access AHS funded physiotherapy through the Outpatient and Community Physiotherapy Services (OCPS) program. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Rehabilitation Advice Line at Health Link, and with the clinical supervision and support from the Clinical Supervisor/Shift Lead, the TA is responsible for information gathering, screening, and linking callers to services in the community. The role requires a general understanding of different conditions that may require physiotherapy intervention, strong communication skills, and a clear understanding of the Therapy Assistant role and scope of practice for Physiotherapists. Job duties will include information gathering, an understanding of the OCPS contract between AHS and contracted private physiotherapy providers, and computer proficiency. This position is located within Health Link in Calgary and requires extended periods of sitting and/or standing while taking calls. The hours and days of work will be discussed with the successful candidate.

As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
