Position Summary
The City of Regina is excited to seek out an experienced Senior HR Professional who is a leader in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) strategies and program leadership. The WHS programs under the leadership of this position will include managing employee health initiatives, disability and claims management and workplace strategies for illness and injury prevention. The position is also responsible for the supervision of Human Resource Consultants and Associates in the WHS branch in the People and Organizational Culture (P&OC) department. How You'll Spend Your Time
Provide strategic interpretation and advice in the administration of the City’s Corporate Safety Program in accordance with P&OC policies as well as legislation as it relates to Occupational Health & Safety, Corporate Mental Health, and Disability Management
Serve as the City’s lead and expert resource in Workplace Health & Safety strategies and programs including acting as primary spokesperson and advocate for the branch.
Provide advice in the development and presentation of applications and responses, taking the lead on more complex organization-wide cases including Human Rights Commission and/or other quasi-judicial bodies
Work with People & Organizational Culture (POC) and other City leaders to develop Corporate Workplace Health & Safety strategies
You will work directly with business leaders, unions, and Directors to resolve complex HR issues requiring more than the exchange of information and advice, as well as build and maintain long-term working relationships
Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of programs ensuring design or revisions reflect best / emerging practices and are aligned with broader HR programs and the City’s operational requirements (this requires ongoing research and education).
Provide leadership and performance planning for staff (goal setting, review, and assessment) and ensure that all direct reports are set for success. What You Will Bring
You will have extensive experience in working with senior leaders, with a demonstrated ability to see the big picture and make decisions that are in the best interest of the employer
You will have a strong ability to analyze conflicting information and make decisions with limited information and hold the ability to build-consensus and navigate difficult conversations
You can maintain a positive and professional in the face of adversity
You will feel secure in presenting, training, and educating on areas of subject matter expertise
You will have strong political acumen given the typical content of discussions Education & Experience
Seven (7) to ten (10) years of relevant HR experience, a strategic mindset, strong communication and team building skills, excellent conflict management skills, and experience in coaching and developing people.
A degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Kinesiology or related field.
Canadian Registered Safety Professional certification
CPHR designation (Asset)
