Be part of the adventure:
Reporting to the Co-heads Investments, Canada, you assist in the execution of tactical and detailed transactions across multiple transactional facets (investments, divestitures, private markets and public markets) to define blind spots and achieve the complex objectives of the strategic plan of Ivanhoé Cambridge. You will contribute to prospecting and analyzing tactical due diligence, working closely with internal and external stakeholders. You will also contribute to evaluating strategic partnerships and supporting business units as additional resources. You will be part of a dynamic team that is creative in responding to the evolving priorities of IC and the Canada Hub to address opportunistic situations and complex strategies that can create and preserve value for IC’s portfolio of investments.
Your duties will include the following:
  • Assist in analyzing transactions (direct and indirect) and markets opportunities across the IC portfolio that may include alternative sectors, capital markets, structured equity and debt;
  • Prepare preliminary reports for transactional deals, including strengths and weaknesses;
  • Participate in due diligence activities by centralizing documentation and reviewing documentation;
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders (brokers, advisors, banks, etc.) and internal stakeholders (legal affairs, portfolio construction, taxation, finance/accounting, valuation, asset management, risk management, leasing and development teams);
  • Model complex transaction structures in-line with deal parameters, partnership agreements and other financial structures, including those with IC portfolio, capital structure or tax repercussions; advise team members of the impact of these structures, and recommend alternatives as appropriate with a view to maximizing performance and/or minimizing risk;
  • Participate in the execution of financial analysis, and the preparation of documents containing a summary of the relevant information for investment proposals to be distributed to various stakeholders for decision-making purposes;
  • Research and monitor target markets to be aware and ensure access to the latest information in order to accurately assess markets and investment deals;
  • Prepare various ad hoc corporate analyzes requested by the Canada Hub;
The skills of success!
  • Bachelor’s degree in, administration, finance or accounting; master’s degree an asset;
  • CPA, CFA or the equivalent an asset;
  • Three to five years of relevant experience; Transactional experience in investment and/or investment banking (capital markets) an asset.
  • Proven financial modelling skills; familiarity with Argus an asset
  • Keen interest in the real estate investment field and/or capital markets;
  • Talent for financial analysis;
  • Ability to establish productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Proactive, innovative and results-oriented;
  • High-level proficiency in Power Point, Word and Excel;
  • Available to travel locally and in the rest of Canada with minimal notice;
  • Available to work flexible hours;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken French and English; good writing skills;
  • Ability to distill information effectively; strong attention to detail; disciplined approach to executing tasks;
