Job Description & Title: Summer Bylaw Enforcement Officer

Responsibilities:

• Act in accordance with the code of conduct provided in the Taber Police Service Policies and Procedures, and Town of Taber Code of Conduct.
• Enforce by-laws of the Town of Taber.
• When so directed be involved in community-based policing and enforcement activities.
• When so directed manage and enforce the provisions of the unsightly premises and weed control bylaw.
• Participates in the workplace health and safety program, including monthly worksite and hazard inspections.

Job Requirements:

• Preference given to applicants registered in courses of studies relating to law, social sciences or community college law enforcement programs.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Be of good character and be able to qualify for an appointment as a bylaw officer.
• Ability to provide a clean driving abstract.
• Standard First Aid/CPR/AED training.
• Must successfully pass a security background check.
• Preference will be given to individuals who are familiar with the community of Taber and its geographical area of the Town of Taber.
• This position falls within CUPE Local 2038

Work Schedule: Availability to cover a number of shifts is required, including weekends, evenings and statutory holidays (24-hour operation). 8-hour shifts.

Wage: $17.43 per hour.
