JOB SUMMARY
The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is responsible for building a healthy, inclusive and vibrant City, as well as ensuring that communities, residents and visitors have access to the recreation and cultural places, programs, events and services that allow them to experience all the benefits the City has to offer, and overseeing Buildings and Facilities Management for improved service delivery integration, ensuring the best possible client experience in City facilities.
You are responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the assigned program in liaison with internal staff, external stakeholders and members of the public in support of effective and efficient office operations, including: performing administrative and clerical support to the Manager, Supervisors and program staff; supporting the use of program related databases and inputting data; providing support to special events and program related projects, as assigned; providing ongoing reporting related to the program; and performing any other related duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 12
Education in a relevant field based on key functions to be performed and primary facility program focus, i.e. Aquatics, Sports/Fitness, Special Needs, Arts and Culture, etc. or related field, is desirable
Minimum of 3 years of experience preferably in a computerized environment and in a relevant field based on key functions to be performed and primary facility program focus, i.e. Aquatics, Sports/Fitness, Special Needs, Arts and Culture, etc. or related field
Certifications and Licences listed below apply to specific positions in Aquatics, Sports/Fitness, Special Needs or Arts/Culture

KNOWLEDGE
- The general organization and activities of the specific program/unit/branch/department
- Corporate, departmental and branch policies and procedures
- Office practices and procedures
- Corporate Records Management system
- Departmental/branch specific programs and initiatives
- Corporate computer and software applications such as Windows, Word, Excel, Access, etc.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
- Knowledge of Therapeutic Recreation tools (OHIO, Community Integration) for Special Needs positions

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Language Requirement: Designated Bilingual – specific level of language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing Candidates who do not meet language requirements will be required to participate in training.
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Note: Under the age of 18, requires a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check in place of the Vulnerable Sector Check.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
