The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport is currently seeking a dynamic and highly-motivated individual who is a flexible team player for the position of Park Maintenance Worker for provincial park lands within Lac La Ronge Provincial Park of Saskatchewan Parks Service. Reporting to the Supervisor, this position will be involved in the maintenance program.

As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform a variety of repair and general maintenance activities on buildings and grounds. You will operate light-to-medium equipment such as light trucks, UTV's, riding mower, skid steer, garbage trucks, power tools and other equipment as directed. You will perform janitorial and sanitation functions, including pick up and disposal of garbage and debris. You will assist with maintenance and care of park facilities and grounds. You will assist with the monitoring, testing and inspection of the water systems and sewer systems under the direction of the supervisor. You will assist with construction of park facilities (toilet buildings, picnic tables, etc.). You will assist with falling trees and preparing firewood.
This position involves frequent lifting, carrying and moving supplies and equipment. The incumbent in this position must comply with risk management standards, OH&S, Public Health Regulations, WHMIS and TDG. The successful candidate must possess a current valid Class 5 or higher Driver’s License and must be able to work on statutory holidays and weekends. This position may be required to supervise staff.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of basic cleaning methods (materials, equipment and methods commonly used in housekeeping/janitorial and sanitation activities); safe equipment and building operation, maintenance and minor repair. You will have knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S Regulations, Chainsaw and ATV/UTV procedures.
The successful candidate will have experience and ability to perform building and/or park maintenance, using common hand tools and light equipment. You will have ability to work independently and/or as a contributing member of a park team to complete work assignments and contribute towards a positive working environment. You will have ability to respond accurately, clearly and courteously to inquiries from the general public. You will have ability to identify problems, consider various options and determine appropriate course of action, physically perform tasks such as lifting, carrying or moving supplies and equipment such as picnic tables and cleaning supplies and pumps.
This seasonal position typically works from early May to September of each year.
