***Tentative Start day: April 10th, 2023*** Position Summary
This position performs technical and business support related to construction and Quality Control/Quality Assurance within the Roadways & Transportation department. This position reports to the Supervisor, Testing Lab and Field Services. Duties & Responsibilities
Sampling material from stockpiles, material manufacturing belts or trucks, and compile statistical and other information required for reports including running standard and custom computer records as required.
Prepare informational reports and summaries.
Data entry in various databases.
Provide quality control/assurance and analysis of data and information from laboratory tests.
Laboratory testing includes but not limited to asphalt testing (Marshall method), sieve analysis gradation and proctors.
Tactfully and adequately respond to concerns and inquiries from the public and other personnel.
Follow all rules and regulations as set out in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety manual.

Grade Twelve (12) or General Education Development (GED) equivalency.
Typically, two relevant post-secondary courses (engineering, mathematical, computer, business, administrative) (Grade XII courses in Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Computers, Accounting or Physics are equivalent to post-secondary).
Minimum of two (2) years’ operational/field/technical/engineering experience in a relevant industry.
Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply basic analyses and statistics.
Knowledge of basic water, sewer and waste infrastructure management, materials, operations, construction, maintenance and preservation.
Skills to create tables and forms, create formulas, create queries and reports, modify and customize charts and tables, use pivot tables and cross tab queries, and import/export data from various sources and formats using software such as in the Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access).
Knowledge of collecting, organizing and storing electronic data as well as City of Regina record retention/destruction policies.
Ability to effectively communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with supervisors, co-workers and the public.
Skilled in accurate and precise arithmetic and data handling.
Tactfully and adequately respond to concerns and inquiries from others.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role are obtained through the successful completion of Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent; as well as two (2) relevant post-secondary courses (engineering, mathematical, computer, business, administrative) with a minimum of two (2) years’ operational/field/technical/engineering experience in a relevant industry. Note, Grade 12 courses in Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Computers, Accounting or Physics are equivalent to post-secondary. Working/Other Conditions
Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and have a vehicle available for work usage (travel allowance is provided).
Working in a gravel pit type environment that is often dusty, walking on uneven ground
Working in a material testing lab environment
Working around moving heavy equipment
Working in an environment where PPE, such as but not limited to CSA steel toed boots, hardhat, safety glasses and hearing protection must be worn
Must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs over 20 linear meters.
Must be willing to perform work of a physical nature in all types of plants, field environments and inclement conditions.
Candidates must participate in training and be willing to complete recognized certification programs and courses to perform the work and maintain status.
Will be required to work from variable bases of operation.
Must be willing to perform overtime, work shift and/or irregular hours.
Testing Lab Only: Incumbents are required to submit a Criminal Record Check every five (5) years as per The Nuclear Safety and Control Act as a condition of employment.
