Employee Services Section Coordinator

Regular Full Time- CUPE

POSITION OVERVIEW:
SPS has an exciting opportunity for an Employee Support Services (ESS) Coordinator to join our growing Support Services Bureau team. As part of an inter-disciplinary team with a mandate to provide wrap-around services to SPS employees at various stages of the employment lifecycle (hire to retire), this position is responsible for providing senior-level administrative support functions to the ESS team.

Reporting to the ESS Inspector, this role works closely with ESS Sergeants, Human Resources Section, and other key internal and external stakeholders to carry out a variety of specialized HR-related tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Tracking, monitoring, and reporting on employee movements including reporting on leaves of absences, promotions/transfers, and supporting onboarding/offboarding tasks;
  • Coordination and processing of confidential human resources paperwork;
  • Ensuring all information databases and lists are maintained and accurate;
  • Developing, producing, and reconciling a variety of complex reports within compressed deadlines;
  • Researching and compiling complex statistical data on a routine and adhoc basis;
  • Receiving and responding to inquiries, composing responses, answering general inquiries; and
  • Providing supervisory support of junior clerical employees, under the direction of the Staff Sergeant and Inspector, ESS.



This work requires our incumbent to have strong written and verbal communication skills; a collaborative and team-oriented working style; and an ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff within SPS and outside agencies. The incumbent will also be required to maintain confidentiality and will work under limited supervision and exercise considerable independence of judgement and action within specific guidelines. Our successful candidate will possess strong public relations and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively problem solve.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful incumbent will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by several relevant courses from a recognized post-secondary institution or several relevant in-house SPS courses, plus 5 years experience in an advanced administrative role including two years supervisory experience. An equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience may be considered.

Experience in an administrative position within a policing environment will be considered an asset.
