As the Development Coordinator, you will be a contributing member of the Service Provision and Land Planning Team within the Recreation and Social Programs Business Unit. Primary duties include:
- Prepare a variety of recreation and social programs studies and plans such as recreation needs assessments and emerging sport studies.
- Review, evaluate, and provide recommendations on local area plans, land use, and subdivision applications.
- Interface and negotiate with consultants, developers, the community, and government officials on all aspects of the planning and development of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and amenities.
- Represent the Service Provision and Land Planning Team on a variety of corporate and inter-governmental working teams.
A degree in Planning or a related field combined with at least 5 years of related experience.
Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Preference will be given to applicants who are eligible for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and have previous experience working with Corporate Planning Applications Group (CPAG).
Project management experience is considered to be an asset.
You have a high degree of political sensitivity and applied knowledge in the areas of planning policy, by-law preparation and application, parks master planning, and development response.
Well-developed communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills along with the ability to work effectively with others.
