Control Clerk (Utility Receivables)
Public Works – Operations Support
Contract Full-Time, 13 Months
Pay Band: $51,815 - $64,770 per annum


Reporting to the Supervisor, Revenue Collections, you will be responsible for supporting the financial processes for water and wastewater billing, perform journal entries and reconciliation for several General Ledger accounts, and support collections processes.


In this role you will
:

  • Prepare financial reconciliations for water and wastewater General Ledger accounts.
  • Research and resolve reconciliation variances.
  • Coordinate and prepare journal entries for water and wastewater revenue, expenditures, accruals and allocations.
  • Analyze, research and prepare the daily bank reconciliation.
  • Research and resolve credit balance accounts.
  • Analyze and journal transfers for water/wastewater customer payments made at other Region of Peel sites.
  • Coordinate and prepare financial analysis to support month end, tri-annual and year end reporting.
  • Research and prepare analysis for year end reports including Write-off and Allowance for Doubtful accounts.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Prepare reports and analyze Peel Living water accounts with past due balance.
  • Support the transfer to tax roll process including resolving payments inquiries, issue refunds, re-allocation within accounts, etc.
  • Collect, maintain and analyze data to support KPIs and other reporting including Account Receivable performance and transfer to tax roll receivables.
  • Support collections activities, including transfer to tax roll, the arrears certification etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in Accounting/Business
  • 2-3 years of work experience in accounting/finance. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Account reconciliation experience, strong ability to interpret, analyze, and summarize mathematical and accounting data
  • Analytical and detail oriented to ensure accuracy of information
  • Experience with and strong Microsoft Excel skills, ability to create spreadsheets, analyze and manage large volumes of data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to speak, write in a professional manner and a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, organized, able to prioritize workload based on importance and specified deadlines
  • Experience with Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) would be considered an asset

Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 2 Copper Road worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
