Full Description
Under the general direction of the FPSS Equipment Specifications Coordinator, the Vehicle Up fitter Compliance Coordinator (VUCC) is responsible for monitoring the daily work progress as it relates to vehicle installs, equipment re-mounting programs, refurbishment programs, new equipment builds and/or alterations/modifications to new and currently in-service equipment and vehicles.
The VUCC is responsible for ensuring Fleet vehicles and equipment conforms to all Federal Transport Canada’s National Safety Mark (NSM), Provincial Safety Guidelines and Standards.
The VUCC is responsible for defining technical specifications, authoring of and coordination /administration of bid opportunities, assists with replacement scheduling and forecasting, researching and reporting on procured items within the Fleet Management Agency.
The VUCC is responsible for working with the, Equipment Specifications Coordinator, FPSS Technologists, FPSS Equipment Inspector and the Machine Shop Foreman/Supervisor, and external organizations to determine the requirements of each install or modification.
The VUCC acts as an agency subject expert liaison between external vendors and internal entities such as the manufacturing facility, repair facilities, fleet procurement & support services and customers.
As the Vehicle Upfitting Compliance Coordinator (VUCC) you will:
- Provides technical oversight and support for equipment modifications, upfitting and manufacturing of new equipment
- Ensures compliance for new built, upfitting or modified equipment through inspections oversight
- Conducts fleet manufacturing, modification and acquisition research & development
- Develop specifications for equipment & supply contracts
- Contract Administration and Coordination
- Operational Assistance / Warranty Support
Your education and qualifications include:
- Post-secondary diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology and registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Red seal journeyman welder or machinist certification with interprovincial status is preferred.
- Approximately 3 years’ experience coordinating vehicle and equipment modifications, upfitting and manufacturing components for vehicles and equipment.
- Proficiency in the use of the applications within the Microsoft Office Suite: Microsoft Word (advance level), Excel (intermediate level), Outlook (intermediate), Adobe Acrobat (intermediate level), or another current database program (relational databases, querying, reporting and basic form design).
- Ability to research, analyzes, comprehend and synthesize complex technical findings and develop appropriate technical specifications.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule activities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to utilize maintenance management systems and learn other relevant computer software.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to develop, maintain and implement standard operating procedures and processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, and with external contacts. (i.e. Vendors, Manufacturers and Consultants)
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively resolve conflicts.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health hazards and precautions.
- Knowledge Transport Canada standards, Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, Highway Traffic Act, and Provincial/Federal legislation to provide recommendations for upfitting, modifications and manufacturing components for vehicles and equipment. Experience in contract administration, preparing detailed equipment specifications and procuring mobile equipment for a large utility, municipality or similar government agency.
- Ability to understand the technicalities including language of contractual agreements.
- Ability to interact in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with technical resource staff to develop terms and specifications.
- Ability to multi-task, highly detailed orientation, organized, time management skills, prioritization, coordination, technical aptitude and business acumen.
Conditions of employment:
- The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
- Possess and maintain a valid Manitoba class 5 driver’s license.
- The successful applicant will be required to provide a Police Information Check, satisfactory to the Employer, at their own expense.
- Maintain membership as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM)
