Selkirk Mental Health Centre (SMHC) is looking for a Pharmacist to join our team. SMHC is a 252-bed facility located in the City of Selkirk that provides specialized inpatient mental health and acquired brain injury treatment and rehabilitation services to residents of Manitoba and Nunavut whose challenging needs cannot be met elsewhere in the provincial health care system. Program areas include: Acute, Rehabilitation, Geriatrics, Forensic and Acquired Brain Injury. For more information see www.gov.mb.ca/health/smhc.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Person Sector Check
- Must have a current and satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Must have a current and satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check
- Must be licensed to practice in Manitoba by the Manitoba Pharmaceutical Association
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Experience dispensing medication (in hospital, pharmacy, treatment facility)
- Experience with controlled dose, and involvement in development or education related to Hospital Formulary.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal skills for the purpose of effectively interacting with patients and staff to deal with conflict and resolve issues.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi task in a demanding fast pace environment with competing priorities.
- Excellent medication counselling skills.
Duties:
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, this is a responsible position that requires a Pharmacist licensed in Manitoba to provide pharmaceutical services, including education and drug information to the Centre’s patients, staff and families on a regular basis and as requested.
