Legislative Technical Clerk

Full-time Vacancy (approximately 18 months)


The Corporate Services Department is seeking a full-time permanent Legislative Technical Clerk. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Legislative Technical Clerk is responsible for providing confidential specialized administrative services, providing clerical, technical administrative, legislative and research support and assistance to the Corporate Services Department, Land Agent, and Executive Coordinator. This position works in a fast-paced environment and requires the ability to work well under tight deadlines. The Legislative Technical Clerk is responsible for coordinating activities related to preparing for and attending evening Council meetings including setting up, operating and troubleshooting technology, as well as acting as recording secretary.


A minimum of two years towards a college diploma in office administration, business administration, public administration or other related field, or a certificate in local administration awarded by the Board of Examiners is required. A minimum of three years’ experience is required in a local government legislative setting or related environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will be required to provide a valid Driver’s License and clear Criminal Record Check.


The normal work week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday with some variable working hours to attend Council meetings and events after work hours. The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $31.90 plus a full comprehensive benefits package. A probation wage rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
