Job Title: Education Partnership Outreach Officer -Term to March 31, 2023

Location of Position. Central NL.Office location will be determined based on geographical region of the successful applicant. Office locations are as follows: Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander and Glenwood, NL.

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $42,000.00

Job Description:
Under the direction of the Culture, Tourism and community Development department, the Education Partnership Program Officer is responsible for supporting the ongoing development and implementation of plans associated with the Education Partnership Program. The Officer will coordinate engagement sessions, schedule meetings with schools, partners and other agencies, deliver cultural content and assist in the administration of programs and events within the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a database of Elders and Knowledge Sharers within Qalipu communities
  • Attend and take notes at relevant engagement and coordination meetings and
  • Manage and oversee small projects within allocated
  • Providing support to related Education and Training projects that further the culture and
  • heritage of the Mi'kmaw People of Qalipu First Nation.
  • Consolidate data and information acquired through research and engagement, analyze data and information, and develop appropriate written communications to support information sharing.
  • Assisting in the promotion of programs and
  • Assisting in the development, coordination and delivery of education and child/youth special projects as identified by the Director.

Qualifications:

Education:
A minimum of two (2) years related working experience and demonstrated knowledge of and experience with First Nations and Post-Secondary Education with a focus on social work, Education and/or Community Studies.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of Mi'Kmaw Culture and practices.
  • Experience working with Elders, youth and Partners on programs related to indigenous Education within the school system.
  • Knowledge and Experience working with NLESD.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software
  • Strong working knowledge of virtual communication
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated and working knowledge of Qalipu First Nation and the Culture, Tourism and Community Development Department.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Working Conditions: This position is office based with duties predominantly met during regular business hours. Travel and flexibility of work schedule may be required where circumstances permit.
