IO’s Project Delivery Enterprise Team delivers some of the province’s largest and most important public infrastructure projects, including new hospitals, highways, transit systems, and courthouses. Our made-in-Ontario approach to modern project delivery has brought over 100 major projects to market and has made Ontario a global leader in infrastructure development by delivering new projects on time and on budget while meeting high standards for design, quality, and health and safety.

The role is responsible for leading, managing and directing the planning and delivery of a number of large, complex projects within approved schedule, budget and quality parameters.
To be successful in the role, the incumbent has demonstrated experience in the management of teams working on non-P3 projects, in the delivery, procurement or construction stages of work, and mentoring of Project Management staff.

What You Will Do:

    • Deliver a portfolio of infrastructure projects ensuring integration, coordination and consistency with strategic corporate directions and goals:

    • Manage the process from planning stage to project close out with a particular emphasis on working with clients to develop contract documents that are complete and have had the appropriate level of due diligence necessary to get to the commencement of construction.
    • Develop/deliver project implementation plans to ensure the delivery of multiple projects on time and on budget.
    • Lead the procurement of high-value services in support of project development and implementation. Manage procured consulting expertise and resolve disputes on contract interpretation and terms of agreement on behalf of the organization.
    • Ensure comprehensive project management is maintained throughout the planning, transaction, construction, commissioning and final completion phases of each project.

    • Manage project risks to ensure delivery of projects within approved schedule, budget and quality parameters:
    • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage various project risks from the concept phase of each project through to completion and hand-over.
    • Build and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with external clients and proactively work with them to mitigate potential issues and challenges.
    • Manage complex stakeholder networks for various projects and broker solutions to issues which arise.
    • Keep division’s executives and client teams informed on potential issues or events that may concern them or have an impact on programs, services and initiatives they are responsible for.

    • Provide leadership to team:
    • Build, develop and motivate a team of high-caliber professionals that provide high quality services, and build reputation as a reliable business partner.
    • Establish performance measurement process, training and development programs for the team to support knowledge transfer, skills development and the team’s ability to successfully manage deliverables.

What We’re Looking For:

    • Experience in the delivery, procurement or construction of non-P3 projects is required.
    • Significant senior experience in the consulting or construction industry.
    • Senior level strategic project planning, development and implementation skills.
    • Substantial experience in either Construction Management, Engineering, or Project Management.
    • Understanding of appropriate codes, standards and other guidelines related to the delivery of infrastructure projects.
    • Substantial expertise in contract management, construction finance, and procurement.
    • Expertise in quality management processes and oversight.
    • Experience successfully leading negotiations of contracts or agreements in a complex multi- stakeholder environment.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities, highly developed communications skills, presentation skills and a proven track record of building positive relationships and effective partnerships.
    • A strong ability to manage difficult conversations, proactively deal with complex situations, and propose solutions that will lead to a successful resolution of potential issues.
    • Strong negotiation skills at the boardroom level, with an ability to find win-win solutions.
