Role Summary
Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Van/Bus Driver, who also acts as a Recreation Assistant is primarily responsible for providing safe, comfortable and enjoyable rides for the convenience of the resident to attend to personal appointments and larger bus outings , promote continued independence and maintain residents’ connection to the community.

Wage: $22.30 to start, after 465 hours the rate will increase to $23.50
Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Van inspection (start and finish of each shift)
  • Ensure the safe and timely loading and unloading of each resident
  • Ensure walkers and/or Wheelchairs are safely loaded and secured in the van
  • Punctual for pick up and drop off times for residents
  • Collaborating with the Recreation Manager/ Reception on organizing time & schedule of trips for each resident.
  • Prioritize trips that are efficient and take into consideration gas mileage.
  • Responsible for conducting pre and post inspections pressure of tires, gas fill up and regular maintenance of the Van/ Bus
  • Ensure that all maintenance paperwork is maintained and kept in the glove box of the Van/ Bus
  • Companionship for the residents
  • Maintain upbeat and professional personality
  • Represent Bria Communities as an Ambassador when out within the community.
  • Other recreational assistant duties as required and/or assigned by the Recreation Manager for events and other programs for our residents
Education & Experience
  • Class 4 Unrestricted driving abstract
  • Previous Courtesy Van/Bus Shuttle driver (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a senior living environment is an asset
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Clear driving abstract
  • Customer service focused
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to use Google Suite including Gmail and Google Calendar
  • Ability to adapt and change on short notice
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiar & comfortable with google calendars, maps and i-phones
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 10lbs-15lbs
