This is for a part-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours bi-weekly.

The Yukon Archives’ mission is to acquire, preserve, and provide access to Yukon’s documentary heritage for the understanding and appreciation of all. Our mandate for documentary heritage is broad, including archival records from government and private sources and published library materials. Government records are acquired in all formats from Yukon government agencies and Yukon municipalities.

The Archives Library Technician provides technical and operational support to the Archives Librarian in managing the Yukon Archives Library to establish and maintain intellectual and physical control over the library material. The position manages the newspaper, periodical and professional serial collection and locates and assigns e-book links to catalogue records. The incumbent manages the pamphlet collection by confirming the title against the public access catalogue, creates or downloads a descriptive catalogue record to reflect the title in hand and assigns pamphlet locations and folders as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how your education, work experience and related duties align with the essential qualifications listed below.   • Library Technician certificate or coursework in Library and Information Science or a related field of study
  • Experience in libraries, including shelving materials
  • Experience with library-related technologies such as major integrated library systems (e.g., Virtua)
  • Experience in library technical services would be an asset

Candidates with the training or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Additional Information
Job Requirements:

  • Lifting of boxes and oversized items up to 40lbs;
  • Occasional exposure to dust, dirt, pests, and mold (with protective equipment).

Relocation: This position is not eligible for paid relocation.
