Position Summary
This is a technical position that provides the interface between the Assessment and Property Revenue Services Department and Technology departments. Responsibilities include ongoing system utilization and maintenance, upgrade initiatives, assessing divisional needs, identifying service delivery options, documenting systems requirements and assessing, selecting, and implementing suitable software and process improvement solutions. This position reports to a Section Coordinator. Duties & Responsibilities
Act as a technical liaison for the business area and external stakeholders
Responsible for system development, implementation, enhancement, maintenance, and training. Develop queries/reports to meet business area needs.
Responsible for assigned tasks related to annual, monthly, and daily business processes. Review and ensure accuracy of financial data within the system application.
Participate in the analysis of existing workflow processes, develop the required system policy and procedure documentation, and recommend solutions to meet business needs.
Respond to complex customer inquiries and develop various public notifications.
Participate in the development, maintenance, updating and testing of other corporate systems reliant on data from the business area.
Lead and/or participate in special projects.
Perform related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of computerized financial systems and procedures.
Knowledge of the relationship between technology and business processes. Knowledge of statutes and bylaws that govern the business area.
Ability to design, develop, and effectively utilize automated information processing and software application packages, such as database software, reporting software, spreadsheets, word-processing and web-based applications. Preferably in City endorsed products.
Ability to analyze spatial and non-spatial data and issues, document findings, and recommend changes.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, demonstrating tact and diplomacy in order to establish effective working relationships with departmental personnel and other user groups as necessitated by work assignments.
Ability to prepare policy and procedure documentation.
Ability to work independently demonstrating sound judgement and initiative to establish priorities and make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures while taking into consideration the details and complexities of the issues and the need for results.
Ability to instruct others in the effective usage of computerized systems.
Ability to mentor and facilitate the business area in the development of technical solutions. Demonstrated project management skills. Education & Experience
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are obtained through a university degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a financial or computer science major combined with three (3) to five (5) years’ progressive experience using computerized management information systems.
