About Our Opportunity


We are recruiting a dynamic and highly skilled leader for the Regional Executive Director of Education (RED) position in the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. Qualified candidates who have knowledge and/or experience working with a diverse workforce are strongly encouraged to apply for this senior leadership position.


As the RED, you provide educational leadership for the region, focusing on a quality education, enhanced community involvement, and efficient service delivery to ensure resources are directed to services to support student success and wellbeing. You play a pivotal role in the inclusive and student-centred P-12 public education system which promotes student success in achievement and well-being, diversity, professionalism of staff, safe educational environments, excellence, and innovation.


You have overall accountability for the efficient leadership and management of the Regional Centre office and the public schools in the region, including program delivery, support services, financial administration, systems administration, technological innovations, management and supervision of all regional employees and relations with government, partners, the public, and the media.


As RED, you have strong educational leadership, financial, strategic planning, human resource management, and influencing skills. You provide support and guidance to a highly professional team and your collaborative management style and respect for the contribution of all staff inspires a high level of achievement.


You adhere to the Education Act and other applicable provincial and/or regional legislation, regulation, and policies in fulling your duties.

About You


You are an innovative educational leader with a Master of Education Degree plus 6 years of progressive management experience. A minimum of 3 years of experience at a senior level is also required. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.


You bring significant experience as an outstanding teacher and administrator. You are an advocate for student learning, equity, well-being and achievement. You demonstrate a depth and breadth of school system leadership experience. Experience in both the elementary and secondary levels is an asset.


You have a proven track record in educational, administrative, and managerial leadership including a high level of personal initiative and a strong results orientation. You have a decisive but approachable managerial leadership style which involves employees in decision making and serves to attract, motivate, and retain high performing staff.


You build and maintain professional and positive relationships, recognizing our communities and partners are vital to the success of our education system.

Salary Range: $133,594.00 - $173,672.00 Annual
