Position Overview
An exciting and challenging opportunity exists for an Executive Assistant to Mayor and City Council with the City of Kamloops! This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the office of the Mayor and City Council and for communicating and providing liaison with all levels of staff and the general public. If you have a passion for local government and a keen interest in public administration, check out this opportunity!

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Public Administration/Office Administration Diploma.
  • One to three years of business or administrative support experience, including experience in preparing meeting minutes in a municipal government is preferred.
  • Previous experience in intermediate word processing and intermediate spreadsheet applications, as demonstrated through testing.(Minimum 70% pass rate required)
  • Previous experience in planning corporate events.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Extensive organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with filing systems and office technology.

This position has a starting salary of $74,743.50 (2023), with a performance-based progression through a step system. The City also offers a comprehensive benefit package including generous vacation and an Earned Days Off program. Along with these benefits, the City provides access to fitness facilities, various instructed programs, an community volunteer/engagement opportunities.

Monday – Friday:
8:00am – 4:00pm (Summer) 8:30am – 4:30pm (Winter)
