Reporting directly to the Manager, Parks Operations & Forestry, this role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Parks operations including turf management, outdoor sport facilities, playgrounds, trails, and winter sidewalk maintenance throughout the Town. As the Supervisor, Parks, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Supervise and direct unionized staff in the daily operations of the Parks Division, including schedules, assignment of responsibilities, efficiency, adherence to policies/procedures, leave requests, training and development, and performance management.
  • Plan, coordinate, evaluate, implement, and direct, through parks operations staff and contractors, the maintenance and operations of all Town of Caledon parks, trails, facilities and services.
  • Prepares and monitors assigned budgets, prepares cost estimates, manages expenditures and performs other administrative tasks as required.
  • Overseeing the delivery of parks operations including preparing and overseeing the procurement process, contract documentation and providing onsite direction as required.

  • Assist the Manager, Parks Operations and Forestry with the implementation of the Parks annual operational plan for Parks Maintenance and trails portfolios.
  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents and incidents associated with Town of Caledon Health and Safety policies.
  • Inspect Parks service requests initiated by internal and external clients. Maintain service levels of grass cutting, garbage collection, and playground inspections through weekly rotational schedule
  • Review standard operating procedures to ensure Town is operating in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Manage Parks turf management program
  • During winter months November to April oversee winter sidewalk maintenance throughout Town
  • Participate in Operations Departmental on call duties.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced professional with training and/or knowledge in the above, normally acquired from a Landscape Technician Diploma or Turf Management Certification or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has five years of Park Operations experience and two years of leadership or supervisory experience in a unionized environment.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated customer service excellence that reflects Caledon’s quality standards: accurate, courteous, responsive and easy to navigate. We are seeking an individual with superior verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to exercise significant discretion and sensitivity involving regular access to confidential data.

The successful candidate for Supervisor, Parks will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).

This position offers a salary range of $87,909.52 - $104,209.30.


Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
