The Licensing and Compliance Monitoring Branch licenses continuing care accommodations and conducts inspections and complaints investigations to monitor compliance with accommodation and health service standards to provide assurance that Albertans receive safe, dignified and quality care.

Role

Reporting to a Regional Manager of Inspections and Health Compliance, in this position, you will be part of a dynamic team of health compliance officers and inspectors.

The health compliance officer provides clinical and professional expertise on infection prevention and control (IPC) standards, monitors compliance, and conducts audits of the Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS) in all publicly funded continuing care health service settings and programs.

Health compliance officers also review Alberta Health Services audit data and investigate reportable incidents and non-compliances/complaints related to CCHSS and the IPC standards.

As a health compliance officer, you provide clinical compliance monitoring, leadership in quality assurance, and risk management practices to ensure the safety and care of patients and residents across Alberta.

Qualifications

University Degree in Sciences (health discipline) or a related field and hold an active registration with your professional college or association. Your education must be complemented by a minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Related experience must include:

  • Clinical experience in a health care setting.
  • Infection Protection and Control (IPC) experience and;


Preference will be given to those with experience:

  • As an educator or quality lead in a clinical setting; preferably in continuing care.
  • In conducting clinical inspections and surveys/audits.
  • Experience in a regulatory environment.
  • Working with accreditation bodies, applicable acts, regulations and legislation.


Direct experience working in health, social care facilities and continuing care settings would be considered an asset.

Equivalencies will be considered based on a Diploma related to the position assignment, six (6) years minimum clinical work, and a current practice permit with an applicable College or Master’s degree related to the position assignment and three (3) years of related experience.

Salary

$3,304.68 to $4,209.22 bi-weekly. ($86,252 to $109,860 per year)

  • Travel – this position is approximately 80% travel with approximately 50% of that being overnight travel. Ability to travel throughout the province and a valid driver’s licence is required.
