Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Overtime may be required. The incumbent will be required to work Sunday shifts.

  • The incumbent must have the ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience performing clerical and/or administrative support duties in a court or legal related environment
  • Experience creating and maintaining physical and electronic legal file systems
  • Experience interpreting and applying established protocols when processing detailed documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to exercise judgment and make decisions
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with related legal system stakeholder
  • Effective written communication skills
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and contribute to a respectful workplace
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Experience dealing with confidential information and using discretion in handling sensitive material
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook or equivalent

Desired:
  • Successful completion of a recognized legal secretarial/administrative assistant training program
  • Knowledge of database applications including Prosecutions Information and Scheduling Management System (PRISM) and Criminal Courts Automated Information Network (CCAIN) or equivalent applications
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Prosecution Service processes or policies relating to Disclosure

Duties:
The Disclosure Clerk is responsible for the preparation of electronic and physical prosecution files, accurate entry of charges, involvements and all investigative material into Prosecutions Information and Scheduling Management System (PRISM), as well as the redaction and preparation of particulars for disclosure using standard office equipment and custom software. Other duties may include mail management, reception duties and the delivery and collection of documents to and from various office locations.
