This is varied and moderately difficult clerical work in the performance of a variety of diversified but recurrent clerical duties. Assignments are performed with relatively little close supervision and the incumbent makes some independent decisions based on a knowledge of departmental rules and regulations, and may be required to explain relevant bylaws and regulations to people seeking information; uses application software to import and format documents; creates user aides; transcribes minutes, prepares, processes and circulates materials; composes correspondence; reviews a variety of forms for accuracy, completeness, propriety of charges and conformance with departmental regulations. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 preferably including or supplemented by courses in commercial subjects and bookkeeping and considerable related experience as a Clerk 2; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules and regulations and operational needs which govern activities in the department concerned; of modern business office practices and procedures including the use of various application software packages. Ability to maintain complex records and to prepare periodic statistical and narrative reports; to meet and deal tactfully and effectively with the public and to maintain harmonious working relationships with office staff. Skill in operating common office appliances.
