This Child Care Subsidy Program may be for you!

The Child Care Subsidy Program is committed to helping parents’ access quality, affordable child care. The Child Care Subsidy Program offers a range of subsidy options to help eligible families with pre-school children and children Grades 1 to 6, with the cost of child care.

The successful candidate will determine the initial and ongoing eligibility for subsidy benefits under the Child Care Subsidy Program. Through reviewing supporting documentation, the Assessor determines the family income, reason for child care, type of subsidy, hours required for care and approves those benefits in accordance with the Program’s policy, directives, and procedures. In this role, the successful candidate will also make limited referrals to appropriate departments and private sector agencies.

Working within a processing center environment, the successful candidate will be required to answer client inquiries over the phone on an as needed basis. Also, this position holds the authority and accountability to make decisions regarding benefit issuance and continued eligibility. The assessor is responsible for processing a high volume of clients with very short timelines. The successful candidate will need excellent assessment, decision-making, interviewing, time management and interpersonal skills as well as good verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

High School Diploma and at least 3 years of related experience or;

Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

Proficiency in the use of Outlook and SharePoint is required

Experience working within the Child Care Information System (CCIS) or other Government of Alberta databases will be considered as an asset.

Experience working in a call center environment, answering a high volume of calls will be considered as an asset.

Knowledge of social based programs and related policies such as the Childcare Subsidy Policy will be considered as an asset.

Preferences will be given to candidates with experience working with financial documents and assessing eligibility for social based and/or financial support programs.

Salary

$1,861.71 to $ 2,279.37 bi-weekly. ($48,590 - $59,491 per year)

Location: The successful candidate will be working remotely as a part of a remote working pilot project (Calgary, Red Deer, Edmonton, Medicine Hat & Lethbridge). Reporting to the office for onboarding purposes or crucial tasks may be required on an as needed basis.
