The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (“AFA”) exists to encourage and support the arts as a significant contributor to quality of life in Alberta. The AFA is a public agency and a provincial corporation of the Government of Alberta with a mandate to support and contribute to the development of the arts in Alberta. • Researching, recruiting, and moderating expert panel adjudication on the deliberation and assessment process to inform funding recommendations.
  • Preparing and finalizing formula-funded and expert panel recommendations for committees and AFA Board approval.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring business operations are managed efficiently and with maximum effect
  • Consulting on partnership development and providing outreach to support long-term client viability
  • Building capacity for individual artists, arts organizations, and other AFA clients to support sustainability and long-term growth
  • Ensuring financial administration complies with government and AFA policies and applicable legislation to ensure equity and transparency in funding and grants management

As a member of Arts Development, you report to the Director, Arts Development, and draw upon the experience of a team consisting of peers with parallel subject-matter expertise to ensure consistency and equity in program delivery.

  • University degree in Arts, Fine Arts, or Arts Administration with a specialization in Theatre plus three year’s prior experience working in arts administration or grants management
  • Knowledge of issues, trends, and research in key subject areas appropriate to the business of the AFA
