The Opportunity
Provides year round coordination and technical guidance to Operations staff at the Montrose Cultural Centre The primary focus is on training and technical direction of staff, coordination or work and work schedules and efficiency and productivity of staff. May perform the duties of arena attendant based on shift schedule requirements.
Requirements:

Must hold a Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License

  • Minimum of five years' experience in an event venue
  • Minimum of three years of directly related crew chief experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in person and on the telephone
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment in dealing appropriately with staff and members of the public
  • Assists with staff performance assessments
  • Maintains safe work practices among arena/facility staff and ensures a safe work environment
  • Assists with related budget preparation; monitors expenditures
  • Resolves customer service issues in a timely fashion

Responsibilities*

The Lead Hand works with, reports to and coordinates with the Events and Entertainment Operations Manager to ensure Responsibilities and tasks are completed using high standards.

  • Maintain building and request repairs as needed
  • Maintain sidewalks and grounds in winter and summer
  • Maintaining positive relationships between staff, user groups and tenants
  • Training and technical direction of staff
  • Coordination of work, work schedules, efficiency and productivity of staff
  • Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service is practiced by staff
  • Scheduling of staff to meet building and programming needs
  • Monitoring budgets for the arena
  • Ensuring City safety policies, safety systems for the building are followed
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with other City departments
  • Ensure equipment is available to meet operational needs
  • Participate in operations and programming planning
  • Ensure employees are orientated following Orientation checklist provided by the City of Grand Prairie
  • Ensure their training meets the required training as outlined by the City for their position
  • Outline Exceptional Customer Service requirements
  • Ensure staff understand the 'Big Picture' including the Vision and Mission of the Events and Entertainment Department
  • Make sure they understand the union policies and Union/City relationship
  • Guide them through the Red Binder training, Hazard ID and Control Safe Work Practices
  • Ensure they know where the PPE is and how to use it
  • Operate and Maintain City equipment
  • 1st contact for Apex Security
  • 1st contact for staff in situations or emergencies
