The opportunity:


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Learning and Development, the Manager, Learning and Development is responsible for identifying and translating Learning and Development needs into learning assets, toolkits, job aids, digital resources, and capabilities. This includes building workshops or events and implementing them to meet collaboratively determined success-criteria in alignment with business goals.


The Manager Learning and Development will also engage in consultations with subject matter experts, peers, the Senior Manager Learning and Development and business leaders, to confirm resources, tools and offerings meet Learning and Development needs – these could be performance readiness and continuous improvement needs for advisors, associates, and all employees.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Leading, developing, and coaching a high-performing, qualified team to deliver and exceed expectations while mentoring employees to realize their professional development goals.
  • Owning the development, implementation and evaluation of onboarding, refresher and remedial Learning and Development activities.
  • Coaching team to develop, implement, and evaluate Learning and Development assets and events that are engaging, and achieve performance-focused outcomes.
  • Providing ongoing performance coaching and reviews in alignment with team expectations.
  • Providing input into functional and operational planning and decision-making.
  • Developing SMART Learning and Development objectives for all existing and new programs/modules in consultation with Senior Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Delivering risk assessed, outcome-driven Learning and Development events in an open and engaging environment.
  • Maintaining and providing weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports contributing to the Learning and Development team dashboard.
  • Recommending ongoing improvements to tools, processes and resources contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:


  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, digital learning, or similar field of study.
  • A minimum of 5 years of job-related experience and 2+ years of managerial experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in instructional design and development, including blended solutions, digital content creation and rapid/development methodologies.
  • Proven experience implementing multi-channel learning events in a corporate setting.
  • Strong experience working with different stakeholder groups to gather needs, build programs, measure outcomes, and recommend improvements.
  • A LEAN Greenbelt, CTDP or PDAL Certification is required; PMP, or Business Analyst Certifications would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools like Articulate 365.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience designing and developing digital learning assets including e-learning modules, job aids and toolkits.
