Scotiabank's Electronic Execution Services group develops customized algorithmic trading and smart order routing strategies with execute billions of dollars of equity trades each month. During your term, you will develop, manage, and run systems which are integral to our business, while also gaining a unique view into the workings of trading at one of Canada's largest investment banks. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Develop trading applications and algorithmic trading tools leveraging new technologies including AI and Deep Learning
  • Assist traders in day to day desk functions
  • Work on full-stack projects for a variety of internal trading desks
  • Create automated reports on trading activity for clients and internal use
  • Design and manage databases containing market data and trade information


Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if:

  • You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
  • You love to learn and envision yourself working for an international organization that heavily invests in your future.
  • You enjoy being involved in extracurricular activities such as conferences, clubs, and competitions/hackathons.
  • You have strong programming and analytical skills with prior experience in one or more of Python, JavaScript, Java, SQL, MongoDB, Angular, HTML/CSS and C# with special emphasis on Python and JavaScript.
  • You have the ability to manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • You have knowledge of or a passion for the financial markets.
  • You have a high level of attention to detail and high professional standards.
  • You have a high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts.
