Human Resources Business Partner

Alberta Innovates is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to provide coaching and support to internal client groups for the full scope of Human Resources areas including, recruitment, employee and labour relations, talent management strategies, and special projects.

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Business Partner will be a professional who demonstrates creativity and innovation in their approach to providing guidance, expertise, and value-added support to people leaders. The successful incumbent will be responsible for (but not limited too) the following:

Conduct full cycle recruitment including role identification, advertising, interviewing, and onboarding new employees
Provide guidance to client groups on employment legislation, employee relations, progressive discipline, and labour relations
Collaborate with identified client groups to assess their talent needs and develop recommendations for skill development, workforce planning, and retention strategies
Support annual processes such as performance management, talent assessment, and succession planning
Provide guidance on the interpretation of organizational practices, policies, and the collective agreement
Support Human Resources projects and initiatives as required

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Commerce with concentration in Human Resources or a Bachelor’s degree along with completion of Human Resources Certificate/Diploma
5 or more years of progressive Human Resource experience
Experience in unionized work environment is considered an asset
Certified Human Resources Professional designation preferred
Strong in employee relations with previous experience in workplace investigations
Working knowledge of Employment/Labour Standards, Human Rights Act and Privacy Act
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
Team work, cooperation, and attention to detail
Proven ability to build and foster strong working relationships
Exceptional customer service focus
Flexible and adaptable
Demonstrated leadership skills, problem-solving and project management capabilities
Travel between sites may be required
