Here's how a Business Development Manager for our Edmonton Buildings and Civil Division contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes strategic planning and objectives around client relationship development and profitable business growth
  • Actively pursues, builds, and maintains relationships in the industry and community to generate and enhance business opportunities.
  • Proactively sources, assembles, and analyzes relevant market and industry data.
  • Develops and executes strategic marketing and business development initiatives in support of the district for commercial and civil projects.
  • Maintains local relationships and client base for future projects and to obtain referrals.
  • Assists district/division leaders in achieving business goals by helping identify opportunities, new clients, new consultants, complementary subsectors through outreach and research.
  • Identifies, assesses, and recommends construction projects to pursue
  • Develops relationships with key personnel in both the public and private sectors
  • Contributes to marketing efforts and project pursuits.
  • Manages and maintains Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Monitors and evaluates business development activities in relation to planned/targeted results and prepare associated reports/analysis for management

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in design, construction, or project development
  • Currently has a network within the commercial and civil construction industry in Alberta
  • Proven experience in business development; forming and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Demonstrated ability to secure new work and clients
  • Proven experience working in a team environment
  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in business administration, business management, marketing, communications, construction or a related discipline or equivalent an asset
  • Understands development, design, and construction, as well as design systems and costs
  • Ability to connect with others quickly and build relationships
  • Possesses strong networking skills; understands relationship building and has established a local network
  • Excellent communication skills both, written and verbal; expresses self clearly and effectively; uses proper organization and grammar in written communication
  • Is persuasive; uses appropriate methods and styles of communication to gain acceptance of an idea, plan, activity, or product
  • Is creative; has the ability to generate many workable solutions to a problem
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills and an ability to prioritize
  • Proven ability to think strategically and critically to achieve district business development targets
