The Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research invites applications for the following position:

Research and Communications Coordinator

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator, the position includes coordinating various research, reporting, and communication projects as it relates to the programs and services offered by the Gabriel Dumont Institute (GDI).
The Research Coordinator will be responsible for researching, compiling, maintaining, and analyzing statistics and data to compile in-depth research reports, plans, proposals, and evaluation tools, in all areas and entities of GDI for public, private, government, and other stakeholder agencies; developing a broad knowledge of GDI in order to work collaboratively and facilitate communication between all GDI entities; creating a variety of content to support internal and external communication and marketing efforts including annual reports, newsletters, speeches, presentations, and press releases; responding to media inquiries and maintaining relationships with members of the press; designing and developing social media, website, and online copy in addition to monitoring, maintaining, and evaluating GDI’s social media and online presence; assisting in the planning and implementation of various Institute events including meetings, conferences, and award ceremonies. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Program Coordinator.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Communications, English, or a related field with a research focus and two years’ experience in a related field; excellent communication, writing, and editing skills are essential; extensive understanding of Métis culture; competence in working independently and being creative and flexible in approaching different situations and projects that may arise; experience with Microsoft 365 (such as Word, Excel, PPT, Teams, OneDrive, etc.), photography, WordPress, publishing programs (such as Adobe and InDesign), graphic design tools (such as Canva), social marketing platforms and business tools (such as Creator Studio, Ads Manager, and Bit.ly), and digital marketing/social media advertising tools would be a distinct asset.

Remuneration: A competitive salary and benefits package
Term: September 1, 2022 – August 31, 2023 (possibility of renewal)
