Reporting the Director Kitikmeot Regional Health, the Manager Health Records is responsible for directing the development and implementation of a regional patient medical records storage, retention, risk management and patient admission documentation and procedures. These services exist to ensure effective utilization of resources, standardization of records handling and processing policies and procedures both regionally and locally. The manager works to ensure that region wide programs are in place to handle the patient information as required and reduce the liability in case of litigation.

The Manager Health Records manage, administer and measure the delivery of regional wide programs in order to provide effective and efficient Patient Medical Records program; manage and maintain accountability and control of Departments assets and working towards improving services throughout the region; provide team leadership for the department supervisors in order to support them in effective and complex service delivery, high stress situations, competing service priorities and to assist with retention to staff; analyze, anticipate and act on trends and issues within the Departments programs in order to reduce gaps in services, potential risk to patients and staff and ensure services are provided to the right person, in a timely fashion in order to increase effectiveness; develop, implement and manage Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities in order to reduce Department liability and increase customer satisfaction and improve the service delivery; anticipate and manage special projects and initiatives as the need arises to ensure growth within the organization and the services provided; monitor and evaluate financial administration systems; and provide human resource management and executive support.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized diploma in health information management or health informatics. Three (3) years of related experience in a health management field including two (2) years as a manager in a complex, customer focused organization.

An undergraduate degree in a related field would be an asset.

Experience in Meditech would be an asset.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
