This is a full-time TERM position (anticipatory permanent), working 75 hours bi-weekly with an end date of March 31, 2023.

Temporary Assignments may also be considered.

As a member of EMR’s Mineral Resources Branch, you are part of a professional team whose objective is to advance and provide resource planning to foster the responsible and sustainable development of Yukon’s natural resources. The team develops and delivers policies, strategies, programs and legislative instruments to support integrated resource management.

Reporting to the Senior Mineral Consultation Advisor, this position provides expert knowledge, advice and information as it pertains to First Nations in the formation, analysis and development of mining policies, projects and programs, and acts as an important link between Yukon and First Nations governments.

Essential Qualifications
Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Diploma or degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Law, Natural Resources or a related field;
  • Experience in planning, leading, coordinating and/or facilitating multi-staged projects;
  • Experience providing advice and recommendations on complex subjects and issues related to resource management;
  • Experience researching and developing policies, regulation, directives, plans, guidelines and/or legislative initiatives;
  • Experience as liaison between government and stakeholders, i.e. First Nations, NGOs, and other agencies.


Candidates who have a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

We are looking for a strategic individual with critical thinking skills who can analyze a broad variety of policy options and make reasoned recommendations. The ideal candidate will have excellent and demonstrated interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills; strong analytical and research skills; the ability to make recommendations on complex issues, draft decision making documents and developing policy. Demonstrated skills in leading and managing project teams; strong organizational and planning skills; the ability to work in a team environment; and demonstrated initiative to work independently are also critical to success in this position.
