ABOUT THE ROLE:

Responsible for leading the day-to-day transportation operations and the team responsible for outbound, and reverse logistics. Owner of relationships with carriers and driving carrier network strategy. Primary contact for FSC and Canada Distribution Centre for transportation, projects, and strategies. P&L responsibility transportation line. Key owner to address transportation partner service failures.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead the day to day domestic outbound & reverse logistics transportation department, which includes working a non-traditional work schedule to support the DCs during open shifts (on two time zones) and supporting peak volume periods; evening shifts and weekends
  • Develop and implement overall operations of the transportation network, monitoring the network and industry trends to flag any potential risks and opportunities
  • Partner and liase with internal and external business partners to forecast and meet capacity needs, identify risks and opportunties and track plans for improvements
  • Responsible for transportation costs, service level agreements and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems to achieve efficiencies
  • Responsible for transportation lines on the Logistics P&L as it pertains to outbound and reverse logistics, and driving cost saving initiatives through effective measurement and monitoring of results and costs
  • Responsible to ensure the transportation team is monitoring the right metrics and being used to report on drivers behind the numbers in finance close meetings
  • Oversee the acquisition and oversight of transportation providers, competitive RFQs and New Store carrier sourcing
  • Conduct regular check ins and business reviews with carriers to ensure carriers are meeting their contractual SLAs and action plans are in place as needed.
  • Accountable for driving excellent client service for our stores, and addressing any failures in a timely and methodical manner
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives to drive results and increase capacity and profitability
  • Drive the development, implementation, and documentation of essential processes within your team


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office, advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Knowledge of WMS and TMS preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, strong numbers aptitude
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to travel to DCs in Ontario and BC monthly, or as needed.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, often-changing environment, flexible, team player
  • Proficiency with various domestic and international carrier rates and booking processes
