The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries is seeking an individual to join the Business Growth Branch as a Business Growth Officer, in Bouctouche.

Reporting to the Business Growth Executive, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial and business development services to industry, through coordination of the Department's programs and other financial partner programming, in order to foster growth of established and new business in the sectors. Responsibilities will include the following: Coordinating the identification of programming options to enable companies to expand, modernize, and diversify; developing and maintaining an extensive knowledge of the sector, job market, government operations and programs; triaging and resolving inquiries or referring inquiries to other regional Business Growth team members or external partners such as businesses, financial institutions, other government departments or agencies; guiding new clients toward new opportunities; providing programming recommendations to Director to support growth in the sector; liaising with business, financial institutions government departments and agencies; assisting fisheries and aquaculture businesses with a variety of financial assistance requests; coordinating business and financial analysis to determine business project viability; coordinating and monitoring project claims; maintaining the Business Growth portfolio for the assigned region; managing a portfolio of small business clients and providing start-up, expansion, acquisition, consolidation, and development support within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors; tracking all interactions and transactions in the client relationship management system; maintaining a list of ongoing regional events and activities; liaising with Director for events, activities, reporting and other topics; other related duties and special projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in Science or Business Administration and a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience including a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in the fisheries or aquaculture sector. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience in project management and/or financial review of commercial projects. Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be prepared to: work outside of the regular work hours to attend various industry and stakeholder meetings; travel within the Province and to other Maritime Provinces as required.

SALARY: $52,936 to $74,048 per annum
