Employment Opportunity – Utility Skilled Labourer

THE OPPORTUNITY
The City of Dauphin has an immediate opening for the position of Utility Skilled Labourer. Reporting to the assigned Foreman or Chargehand, this full-time, in-scope position will be responsible for performing tasks on construction and maintenance projects including aligning, laying and bedding of underground pipe; tapping water mains; assembling, installing and repairing hydrants; performing maintenance on water, wastewater and stormwater systems including operating Sewer Jet and Vacuum truck/trailer; performing leak detection; supporting water and wastewater facility operations and maintenance, and other duties as assigned.

THE PERSON
The City of Dauphin is looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and enthusiastic individual who can perform the duties of this position with a high level of professionalism and efficiency. In accordance with City of Dauphin policies, all applicants shall possess a
Grade 12 education and a minimum of 1-year experience in the water and wastewater field with an aptitude for plumbing and mechanical.

The preferred candidate will possess Provincial Water & Wastewater Operator certification as follows: Water Distribution II, Wastewater Collection II, Water Treatment I, Wastewater Treatment I with a valid Class 3 Driver’s License including Air Brake Endorsement. Any post-secondary education in the water and wastewater field would also be considered an asset.

THE COMPENSATION
The City of Dauphin offers a competitive wage and benefits package, as contained in its Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Local 857. Salary range is $25.09 – $27.22 dependant on experience and qualifications.
