We are looking for a Technical Officer to support our Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre. The candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The Technical Officer will work independently and will be responsible for preparing and executing experimental plans. Reporting and documenting internal and external research and development projects will be part of your daily routine, in addition to proactively and creatively solving problems encountered in the course of these projects, which are mainly related to transient production in mammalian cells (HEK and CHO) and the purification of antibodies and recombinant proteins.

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related discipline.



Masters in relevant discipline would be an asset.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in molecular biology;
  • Extensive experience in animal cell culture (especially CHO and HEK);
  • Extensive experience in protein purification (proA, IMAC chromatography, preparative SEC, AKTA system, etc.).

Assessment Criteria

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cell culture
  • Knowledge of one or more disciplines such as biochemistry, molecular biology and purification;
  • Knowledge of a variety of analytical/electronic equipment and techniques, including protein purification and analysis systems (AKTA, HPLC, etc.), electrophoresis equipment, cytometry, bioreactors, etc.

Relocation

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Compensation

From $73,744 to $94,839 per annum.


In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
