Job Information

This position is located at the Inuvik Regional Hospital, which is a 51 bed, accredited facility serving the Town of Inuvik and 12 outlying communities serviced by NTHSSA. The NTHSSA provides and supports the delivery of health care services to adults and children on an inpatient, outpatient and outreach basis in order to enhance health communities and well-being through excellence, accountability and respect for regional diversity.

Reporting directly to the Rehabilitation Supervisor/Physiotherapist, the incumbent provides clerical and administrative support for the Rehabilitation department, with a focus in child development services. The Rehabilitation team consists of the Regional Manager, Allied Health Services, the Rehabilitation Supervisor/Physiotherapist, 2 Physiotherapists, 3 Occupational Therapists, 3 Speech Language Pathologists, An Audiologist, 3 Rehabilitation Assistants, 1 Program Assistant and a Child Development Team Coordinator. The responsibilities of the Program Assistant directly impact the quality of service delivered to clients and their families and the positive public image of the Rehabilitation team.

  • Strong communication skills, oral and written
  • Computer literacy, knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Ability to use computer resources such as MediPatient and Peoplesoft
  • Knowledge and demonstration of patient confidentiality policies
  • Knowledge of sensitivity to geographical and cultural needs of the clients
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and familiarity with electronic office equipment

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

Diploma in medical office management and 2 years' experience in a medical or health care setting.
