Position Overview

The Police Administration Department requires a regular full-time Operational Communication Centre Supervisor at the RCMP Detachment.

Responsibilities
You will supervise, train, schedule, and conduct the performance reviews of a large group of Police Communications Centre staff engaged in emergency telephone report taking and radio dispatching, working on rotating shifts. You will provide direction and guidance on work related issues; assist in staff recruitment; design, arrange, and conduct training sessions with prepared lesson plans and course materials; and, develop and maintain operating/police manuals. You will also conduct orientation sessions for police members, liaise with a variety of contacts, and perform Communications Operator 2 duties in short term situations as required.

Requirements
You will have supervisory experience and thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the operation of systems and equipment in the Operational Communication Centre, and the ability to type at a net speed of 40 words per minute. You will also have sound experience in related duties, preferably as a fully qualified Communications Operator 2, or OCC Supervisor. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to take initiative, provide exceptional customer service, and contribute positively in a team environment, are essential in this leadership role.

Compensation
$36.39 to $42.96 per hour
(Pay Grade 23 – January 2021 rates)

Hours of Work
Any seven (7) consecutive hours, between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00pm, exclusive of an unpaid one hour meal break; any five consecutive days of seven; compressed work schedule – one scheduled day off approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.

Additional Information
You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
