For full-time, permanent nurses, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides autonomously manages health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and follow up care to the residents in their community in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner Acts, regulations, policies, standards, mission and objectives of the Department of Health. The incumbent practices in accordance with the Registered Nurses Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU).

The NP provides a comprehensive community health service in conjunction with the health care team and works within the context of primary health care to improve the capacity of clients and communities to adapt to, respond or control, life’s challenges and changes.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are obtained through the completion of a Graduate Level Advanced Nursing Practice degree, eligibility to registered for license by the RNANT/NU) with 2 years NP experience, BLS with annual recertification.

Equivalencies such as; a Certificate in Advanced Nursing Practice, Nurse Practitioner- Primary Health Care Diploma or completed a Nurse Practitioner competency challenge process through a Nursing Regulatory-Licensing body. New NP graduates who have 5 years of recent RN experience in an acute care setting will also be considered.

Assets include; Cross cultural experience, BTLS, ACLS, NRP, ALARM, STABLE, Fetal monitoring, pelvic examination, labor and delivery experience with advanced obstetrical training.

Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatugangit is an asset.
