Full Description
Reporting to the Manager, Financial and Performance Reporting, you will:
work with Division Management on all aspects of budgeting and forecasting of Division expenditures and all tax revenues administered by the Division ($4.2 billion annually); provide research and analysis for use by Ministry staff in developing budgets and forecasting revenues and expenditures; prepare briefings and reports of the results of your analysis; organize all cut-off and reporting procedures required by the Division to record expenditures and revenue appropriately in the Government's financial statements; use the Government's MIDAS accounting system to ensure that all revenues earned by the Ministry of Finance are budgeted, and forecasts are updated on a timely basis; and, as a financial analyst it is expected that you will be available to work during specific business cycles to ensure that the various critical reporting deadlines are met (ex. quarter end, year-end).

To qualify for this position, you will have knowledge of:
- research and analysis through the understanding and use of generally accepted statistical, analytical, forecasting and research methodologies, tools and techniques; and
- International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Government's accounting policies and practices.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through the completion of post-secondary education resulting in a degree or diploma focused on accounting, though candidates demonstrating related education and/or experience maybe considered. A professional accounting designation (CPA) and knowledge of MIDAS financial system would be an asset.
