Be a part of a historical policing transition by joining our SPS team. SPS has an exciting opportunity for a Clerk 3 in our Transitional Recruiting Unit (TRU).
Reporting to the TRU Inspector, this position works with a team of professionals dedicated to ensuring a smooth recruitment process of experienced officers joining SPS. This position is a key focal point for our TRU recruiters and candidates by providing support from posting positions using our applicant tracking system; tracking candidate statuses; supporting the hiring, and onboarding of new employees; and assisting with other clerical duties as needed. Upon completion of the policing transition, this position will be relocated to another section at the Clerk 3 level.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: collecting and inputting data in to programs; preparing reports and data summaries; filing and retaining records; preparing and assigning classifications or numerical designations to files and documents; preparing and posting schedules, notices and charts; scheduling meetings, and interviews; providing information to others, tracing errors, correcting deviations from policy; answering inquiries and complaints from the general public and staff; advising others on revised procedures; explaining bureau rules and procedures and assisting other staff in perfuming their duties as required.

Our candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment with an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with users, team members, and key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by several courses in clerical skills, office practices and PC office applications with a minimum 2 years’ experience and training in an office environment. The successful applicant must have an accurate typing speed of 45 words per minute and have proficient knowledge in the operation of MS Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience in an administrative, clerical position within a policing environment will be considered an asset.
This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $27.71-29.42 based on 2022 Rates.
SPS has a vaccination policy in effect with requirements for all current and future employees. Applicants under consideration will be required to undergo an Enhanced Security Clearance.
