This posting is to fill a 1 year full-time term position, working 75 hours bi-weekly until May 31, 2023. The eligibility list for this position may also be used to fill anticipatory permanent positions over the next 12 months.

Temporary Assignments will be considered; internal applicants who have support from their supervisor are encouraged to apply.


Who we are…

As the responsible stewards of public funds, the Department of Finance partners to ensure value for money in the delivery of programs and services for Yukoners. The Department of Finance serves as the territory’s statistical body and develops the territorial budget, corresponding supplementary budgets and Public Accounts for the territory. It is also responsible for negotiating, coordinating and representing Yukon on inter-governmental financial matters with other jurisdictions. In its capacity as a central agency, the department works with all areas of government in the creation of their annual departmental budgets and in processing operational accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

The Financial Operations Unit with the Department of Finance is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented person to join our team of professionals.

The Accounts Payable Operations Clerk is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the vendor system. This position also assists internal and external clients by providing information on payments and assisting Departments in resolving outstanding invoices. Performs all payment functions and is responsible for the daily balancing and monthly reconciliations of the Accounts Payable Ledger.

Essential Qualifications

  • Coursework in Office Administration, Business Administration, Accounting or related field
  • Experience with accounting functions in a large computerized setting such as SAGE, Quickbooks or FMIS
  • Experience administering financial policies, procedures and guidelines preferably in a government setting
  • Experience with various ledger reconciliations

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
