Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies, Sociology, Psychology or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience will be considered
  • Experience interpreting, applying and/or monitoring legislation, regulations and/or by-laws
  • Experience responding to and investigating complaints
  • Excellent verbal communications skills, with the ability to deliver presentations and communicate effectively with the general public
  • Strong problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Strong written communication skills to clearly articulate complex information to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to manage conflict in a calm, assertive and respectful manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Desired:
  • Knowledge of The Accessibility for Manitobans Act
  • Experience conducting inspections, investigations, audits, quality assurance, or program evaluation for the purpose of meeting accepted standards and/or legislation

Duties:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of The Accessibility Compliance Secretariat, this position is responsible for promoting, monitoring and ensuring compliance with The Accessibility for Manitobans Act and its associated regulations. The scope and duties include, but are not limited to: conducting audits and inspections; investigating allegations of non-compliance; monitoring and managing compliance data; engaging in public communication; providing education, training and awareness raising to stakeholders; reviewing policies, tools and resources, as well as participating in internal and external committees.
