The Lands Branch with the Ministry of Agriculture has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join their team in the Saskatoon, North Battleford or Kindersley office. As a Land Management Specialist, you will:

  • Manage a district to assist clients with obtaining and managing their crown leases for agricultural and industrial use;
  • Assess and report on agricultural crown land range health;
  • Ensure client compliance through The Provincial Lands Act and The Provincial Lands (Agriculture) Regulations, Lands Branch Policies, and the terms and conditions of lease clauses; and
  • Manage the districts vacant land portfolio.

You will work with a variety of users including agricultural producers, oil and gas companies, and recreational users.

The successful candidate will require knowledge of range management, and plant identification. You will be required to accurately reference and interpret acts, regulations, policies, and guidelines to respond to land use issues. You will need strong interpersonal skills as you deal with colleagues, other agencies, stakeholders and clients to influence and persuade in order to reach a mutually acceptable or workable solution. You will need to be highly organized to manage multiple files in a fast paced, continuously changing environment.

Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through completion of a degree in Agriculture or Environmental Sciences. You must be eligible for membership as a professional Agrologist with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.

You will be required to travel throughout Saskatchewan using a government vehicle to work remotely for extended periods of time outdoors.
