The Opportunity:

Within the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training, the Immigration Services Branch is seeking two permanent Immigration Officers to work within the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), Economic Immigration Unit and to establish an eligibility list for future permanent Immigration Officer opportunities. The Immigration Officer plays an important role in attracting and retaining immigrants helping to meet Saskatchewan's current and future labour market needs, economic development goals, and to improve the socio-economic outcomes of immigrants who settle here.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Economic Immigration, your responsibilities will include:

  • performing detailed reviews and assessments of applications from individuals who wish to immigrate to Saskatchewan to work;
  • developing working relationships with related federal and provincial agencies and other stakeholders; and
  • consulting with government, community, employers, and other stakeholders to implement immigration strategies in Saskatchewan.

Success in this role demands:

  • knowledge of labour market trends, needs, and issues in Saskatchewan;
  • working knowledge of federal and provincial immigration programs and applicant acts;
  • the ability to search for and assess data/information;
  • the ability to assess complex information to make eligibility decisions;
  • the ability to work independently or collaboratively as a team member with co-workers, stakeholders, and others to consistently meet Ministry and client needs; and
  • being an enthusiastic team player whom tactfully and respectfully supports colleagues to promote a positive work environment.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through a bachelor's degree in business administration, commerce, economics or social science. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

An eligibility list will be in effect for 6 months from the closing date for other permanent opportunities as they arise.
